Therapy
Questions we get asked most
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you are already asking, that is usually answer enough. You do not need a crisis to justify starting, and you do not need the problem defined before the first session.
How long is each session?
Fifty to sixty minutes. We decide together how often to meet. Weekly to start in most cases, sometimes fortnightly once things are steadier.
How much does it cost?
Between $150 and $275 per session before insurance, depending on the therapist and the service. We say the number on the first call, not in an invoice three weeks later. If cost is the thing standing in the way, tell us. Our advanced clinical training programme lets us offer reduced rate options when the standard rate does not work.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, on a secure HIPAA compliant platform, with the same therapists who see clients in the office. Most people mix the two depending on the week.
What is your therapeutic approach?
Whichever combination of CBT, EMDR, psychodynamic, and attachment based work actually fits what you are dealing with. We do not run one programme and fit everyone into it.
Insurance
Questions we get asked most
Do you take my insurance?
No two plans are the same, and working it out yourself is its own small nightmare. Call us and our team will check your benefits and tell you what you will actually pay. We work with most PPO plans and some POS plans as an out of network provider, including Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare among others. We will also give you the superbill you need to claim back.
What does it cost without insurance?
Between $150 and $275 per session, depending on the therapist. Cost should not be the reason someone does not get care. Our advanced clinical training programme lets us offer therapy at a reduced rate when the standard rate or insurance is not an option. Ask about it on the call.
Therapists
Questions we get asked most
What is the difference between a Senior Therapist and a Therapist?
Years in the chair, and nothing else. Everyone here is trained to the same standard and hired from the same short list. A newer therapist is not a lesser one, and is often the better match.
What languages do your therapists speak?
English, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, and German. If yours is not on the list, ask anyway. The team changes.
Appointments & Billing
Questions we get asked most
What is your cancellation policy?
Your slot is held for you every week, so we ask for 48 hours notice. We will reschedule wherever your clinician’s diary allows. Cancellations inside 48 hours are charged at $150 and cannot be billed to insurance.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Credit and debit cards, plus FSA and HSA cards. We do not take cash or checks, except in unusual circumstances.
Do you provide support or therapy animal letters?
We do not. The law and liability around these letters keeps shifting, and we are not able to write them responsibly at present.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you are uninsured, or you are paying for your care yourself rather than claiming it, federal law entitles you to a written estimate of what your care will cost before it begins. That is a Good Faith Estimate. You can request one at any point, and we will provide one once you have scheduled. For therapy it comes down to two numbers, your self pay rate per session and the cancellation fee, and you will have both in writing before your first appointment.
