Women’s Mental Health

Being told it is hormones, or stress, or simply what motherhood is like, is not treatment. Women’s mental health is a clinical field, and we practise it as one.

The reproductive years bring their own psychiatry. Cycles, pregnancy, postpartum, fertility treatment, perimenopause. Each one shifts the ground under your mental health, and each one gets dismissed with impressive regularity.
At Unmind Health you get clinicians who take the timeline seriously and treat what is actually happening, rather than what is convenient to call it.

What is women's mental health?

Understanding the field
It starts from a simple fact. The same diagnosis behaves differently depending on where you are in a reproductive life. Anxiety that spikes for ten days a month. Depression that only appeared after a birth. Panic that turned up at forty four, alongside the night sweats.
It also covers the things without a neat label. The invisible load. The rage that shocks you. The identity that went missing somewhere around the second child and never came back.
None of that is a personality problem, and none of it is something to wait out.

Areas we treat

Not bad PMS. A severe, cyclical shift in mood that can take a week or more out of every month. It is a recognised diagnosis with real treatment, and most women who have it spent years being told it was normal.
Mood and anxiety changes during pregnancy. Often missed, because everyone is looking at the pregnancy rather than the person having it.
It is not the baby blues and it does not always start in the first weeks. It can arrive at nine months. It responds well to treatment, and quickly.
Cycles of hope and grief on someone else’s schedule, usually carried privately. Miscarriage is grief, whatever anyone around you decided to call it.
Anxiety, low mood, insomnia, and a sense of being unrecognisable to yourself. It is hormonal and it is psychological, and both parts deserve care.
The mental admin of a household that nobody else can see. It does not have a diagnostic code. It still burns people out.
